This 4 mile guided hike in Sewickley Heights Borough Park is the park director’s favorite! We’ll hike along the most scenic trails through the park, including the Waterfall Trail. We’ll cover moderate terrain at a steady pace while taking in the natural beauty of the area.


Meet in the upper parking lot. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.

We follow the Leave No Trace principles so please be prepared to pack out any trash.

This hike should last about 1.5-2 hours.

Outdoor Fitness Class with Adrienne Groom

Tuesday, October 15. 9:30-10:30

 
The WAC and FHNC will partner with Edgeworth resident and fitness trainer, Adrienne Groom, for an Outdoor Fitness Class. Basic body weight exercises, along with some bands and weighted balls, will help you improve strength and endurance while short intervals of cardio will keep your heart rate elevated. All fitness levels welcome. 
 
We're so lucky to work with Adrienne! She has a degree in Exercise Science as well as 15 years in the fitness industry including personal training, corporate fitness, and sports conditioning.

Morning Hike in Robin Hill Park - Moon Township

5 miles from Sewickley. Allow 15 minutes for travel time.

Wednesday, October 16.  9:30-10:30

 

We’ll hike along the Beech trail, Ridgeback trail, and Log Cabin trail for a 1.5 mile loop. We’ll pass an authentic 1800s log home, a 24-room Georgian-style home, a whimsical fairy garden, and two oil wells from the 1890s. We can add an additional loop for those who are interested in hiking 3 miles.


Meet in the Robin Hill Park parking lot located at 949 Thorn Run Road.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.

This hike should last about an hour.

Scenic Hike in McConnells Mill State Park

40 miles from Sewickley. Allow 45 minutes for travel time

Wednesday, October 23.  10:30-12:00

We’ll hike 3 miles beside the spectacular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge which is a National Natural Landmark. We’ll travel along the Alpha Pass and Kildoo trails, taking in sights such as the Old Mill and its dam, The McConnells Mill covered bridge, boulders and rock formations, and waterfalls. This is one of the most stunning hikes in our area!


Meet at the Point Parking lot towards the north end of the park.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather.

Consider bringing trekking poles.

We follow the Leave No Trace principles so please be prepared to pack out any trash.

This hike should last about 1.5 hours.

Beautiful Hike in Raccoon Creek State Park

20 miles from Sewickley. Allow 40 minutes of driving time.

Monday, October 28.  10:00-11:45
 

We’ll hike hike along the Forest Trail and Lake Trail for a 4.5 mile loop with over 600 feet in elevation gain. We’ll start along up the Forest Trail which transects several stream valleys that feed Raccoon Lake. The high ridges offer scenic views of the lake. We’ll continue along on the Lake Trail where we’re sure to see birds and possibly a few frogs. You’ll enjoy the crisp air and vibrant colors as we move through this beautiful, park.


Meet a the Park Office parking lot. 3000 PA-18, Hookstown, PA 15050.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather.
