Bear Cub Adventure, June 13-17, 9:30am to Noon

Preschool is the perfect time to introduce kids to the wonder and beauty of nature. At this half-day camp your preschooler can join us for a fun week of outdoor play, nature games, crafts and exploration at Fern Hollow Nature Center. Campers will hike through the meadow, explore the nature play area, hunt for insects, do nature related arts and crafts and so much more. We might even get down and dirty looking for earthworms!

Camp Fee: $125 for FHNC Members, $155 for Non-members
Age: 3-4 years (must be potty trained)

Nature & Art of Eric Carle, June 13-17, 1:00 to 4:00pm

Join us for a fun week filled with all things Eric Carle. The camp will focus on the books The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, the Clumsy Clickbettle, The Quiet Cricket, and The Tiny Seed. Campers will explore nature at Fern Hollow while creating art in the Eric Carle style.

Camp Fee: $125 for FHNC Members, $155 for Non-members

Biologist in Training, June 20-24, 9:00am to Noon

This half-day nature camp will make a true biologist out of your child. Daily educational themes will focus on reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects, trees, fish and other wildlife found in Pennsylvania. Activities will include a morning hike, visits by special guests, crafts and the study topic of the day.

Camp Fee: $135 for FHNC Members, $165 for Non-members

Art Lab Outdoors, June 20-24, 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Students will use the natural surroundings to inspire and spark their creativity. Over the course of one week, campers will explore various art making techniques including nature weaving, solar photography, painting, jute
sculpture… and more! We will learn to look closely at patterns in nature and learn how artists have long gathered inspiration and materials from the outdoors.

Camp Fee: $125 for FHNC Members, $155 for Non-members

Seeds Get Around, July 6-8, 9:00am to Noon

Where do seeds come from and how do they travel? What grows from a seed? How many types of seeds are there? Join us and learn the answers to these questions and many more. Campers will enjoy nature walks, seed identification, and seed art while we plant a few seeds of our own.

Camp Fee: $75 for FHNC Members, $100 for Non-members

Weird Science, July 11-15, 9:00am to Noon

Break out your goggles and lab coats and get ready for some Weird Science! This fun science camp will bring out the inner scientist in your child. Campers will get to extract fruit DNA, try to protect an egg being dropped onto cement, and create their own musical instrument while spending their week enjoying the great outdoors. With daily hikes and games along with a variety of experiments and problem solving, campers will get plenty of exercise for their bodies and their minds.

Indian Tales & Nature Trails, July 18-22, 9:00am to Noon

Come enjoy a week full of nature filled fun and outdoor action! This half-day camp provides “hands-on” experiences for your child. Campers will examine and study live snakes and turtles, catch and observe insects and spiders in our meadow, dig up animal bones in our fossil pit, learn about our local Native
Americans, and make great crafts to take home.

"Camp Out” at FHNC, July 18-22, 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Do your kids like to go camping? Join us for a week of “pretend” camping adventures including making crafts, taking hikes and exploring our natural environment. The children will enjoy campfire songs, story time, and some great outdoor games.

Dinosaurs, July 25-29, 9:00am to Noon

Come explore when the dinosaurs roamed the earth! Campers will be learning about different dinosaurs and present day plants and animals that existed in the past when the dinosaurs were here. We will become paleontologist digging up clues to discover and name a new dinosaur!

A Bug’s Life, August 8-12, 9:00am to Noon

Butterflies, Milkweed Beetles and Grasshoppers Oh My! Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a bug? Join us and find out about these extraordinary creatures. Where they live, what they eat, and how they communicate. We will take daily hikes in our meadow and Outdoor Classroom to see who we can find.

Sweetwater Center for the Arts & Fern Hollow Nature Center

Wild Things, June 27-July 1, 9:00 to 3:00pm

Full day camp! Visit Fern Hollow Nature Center for an exciting week of adventure as campers hike trails, view insects, and study nature. Learn how to look at the world through an explorer’s eyes. Campers will look for evidence of animal activity in nature during a daily hike then participate in a variety of hands-on experiments to learn more about the world around them.

Camp Fee: $265 for FHNC/SWCA Members, $295 for Non-members
Age: 5-7 years
Instructor: Sally Oberdick/Susie Moffett


Exploring Art & Nature, August 1-6, 9:00 to 3:00pm

Full day camp! Visit Fern Hollow Nature Center for an exciting week of adventures as campers hike trails, view insects, and study nature. Learn how to look at the world through a scientist’s eyes. Campers will look for
examples of science in nature during a daily hike then participate in a variety of hands-on experiments to learn more about the world around them. Students will learn about different areas of science, including physics, chemistry, and physiology.

Camp Fee: $265 for FHNC/SWCA Members, $295 for Non-members
Age: 8-10 years
