LITTLE NATURE TREKKERS, June 17-21st; 9:00 am - Noon

Come enjoy a week full of nature and out-door action. This half-day nature camp provides “hands-on” experiences for your child. Activities for the week may include examining live snakes, catching and observing insects and spiders in our meadow, getting up close and personal with some real birds of prey, or getting down and dirty with some live creek critters. Activities for the week will include a daily morning hike and story time, educational study topic for the day, games, and nature crafts.

Age: 5-6 years (must be 5 by June 17th)

BEAR CUB ADVENTURE, June 24-28th (Session I) or July 15-19th (Session II); 9:30am - Noon

Preschool is the perfect time to introduce kids to the wonder and beauty of nature. At this half-day camp your preschooler can join us for a fun week of outdoor play, nature games, crafts and exploration at Fern Hollow Nature Center. Campers will hike through the meadow, explore the new nature play area, hunt for insects, do nature related arts and crafts and so much more. We might even get down and dirty looking for earthworms!

Age: 3-4 years (must be potty trained)

NATURE'S LITTLE EINSTEINS, July 22 -July 26th; 1:00-4:00pm

Join us for a camp where we will investigate the natural world with week full of fun experiments, individual projects and engaging science learning. We will explore, discover and enjoy the wonders of science in our own backyard. We will get our hands dirty and perform safe and fun experiments with everyday household items. Through age appropriate, hands-on experiments and activities, every camper will marvel at the surprises we have in store.

Age: 7-8 years (must be 7 by July 13th)

BIOLOGIST IN TRAINING, July 22 - July 26th; 9:00 am till Noon

This half day nature camp will make a true biologist out of your child. Daily educational themes will focus on reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects, trees, mammals, fish and other wildlife found in Pennsylvania.
Daily activites will include a morning hike, visits by special guests and the study topic for the day. Campers
will also have fun with nature games and art activities.

Age: 7-8 years (must be 7 by July 22th)

SCIENCE NATURALLY, EXPLORING ART 7 NATURE AT FHNC

FHNC and Sweetwater Center for the Arts partnered to offer this wonderful all day camp at Fern Hollow where campers can hike trails, view insects and study nature. Campers will spend the mornings creating various art projects utilizing materials found in nature and will be taught by veteran Sweetwater instructors.
Children will make a birdbath, a nature collage and will participate in a Scavenger hunt.

In the afternoon, campers will get to experience the wonders of Nature from a scientific point of view with one of Fern Hollow’s environmental educators. Learn how a bird flies while building an air rocket! Discover the power of carbon dioxide with a “soda fountain”. Campers will learn about different areas of science each day including physics, chemistry and physiology. We will look for examples of scientific principles in nature then spend time with lots of hands-on experimentation. Campers will also work in small groups to create an exciting complex machine called a Reaction Contraption.
