FHNC’S Fall Music Festival

Saturday, September 18th from 3:00 – 8:00pm

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!  Bring your blanket and enjoy some of the best Bluegrass and Country music in the Pittsburgh area.  This year we will feature Daniels and McClain and the Mon River Ramblers.  We will also be offering dinner from Blue Sky Barbecue!  You can get a half rack of ribs with 2 side dishes for $15 (pre-orders suggested).  And with all the children activities, nature walks and festival foods, there will be plenty to keep everyone entertained!  Ticket prices:  Members $20 per adult and $5 per child (5-15yrs) till September 10^th then non member pricing in effect//Non members $30 per adult and $15 per child (5-15yrs).

WINE AND PESTO FESTIVAL

[FESTA DI VINO PESTO]

Sunday, September 26th from 3:00 – 6:00pm

Join Fern Hollow Nature Center to learn hands-on traditional wine making and sample the entries in our pesto challenge.  Families will get to help crush the grapes (please dress appropriately it is very messy) and remove stems and other debris from the grapes.  Families will be encouraged to come back   to Fern Hollow to help press the grape pulp, barrel  up the juices and also for monthly tasting’s to decide when to bottle the wine.  For the bottling of the wine everyone will be invited back for a pot luck dinner and samples of our delicious wine.  If you are interested in participating in the pesto challenge, please contact the Nature Center to sign up, each entry will be asked to prepare 1 pint of pesto and will receive a $10 discount on admission

FAMILY FISHING AT SOGGY BOTTOM LAKE

Friday, October 1st from 5:30-7:00pm

Join April Claus and Susie Moffett, certified fishing skills instructors, for our first FHNC Family Fishing program.  Meet at the Nature Center then we will car pool to Soggy Bottom Lake, a private residence on Fern Hollow Road, to fish for Blue Gills, Bass, Carp, and Sunfish.  Fern Hollow will provide all of the equipment necessary through our grant from the PA Fish and Boat Commission.  Admission:  $15 per fisherman and $ 5 for an accompany adult.  Fern Hollow members will receive a $5 discount for anyone signed up to fish and the accompany adult is admitted free.  Pre-registration is required to participate in this program, call 412-741-6136 or email fhnc@verizon.net to register.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN SPOOKTACULAR

Saturday, October 25^th, 7:30pm to 10:00pm

Join FHNC and the Sewickley Public Library for a spooky good night.  Enjoy spooky stories and s’mores around the campfire.  Bring your flashlights for a night hike to search for some nocturnal creepy crawlies.  Then kick back on a blanket and watch the classic film “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”.  S’mores and bonfire provided, please bring your own refreshments.  Admission:  FHNC Members $10 per family/Non-members $20 per family.  Pre-registration requested, call Sam at 412-741-6136 or email fhnc@verizon.net LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE

FASCINATING FIGS
