Due to the many challenges and disruptions that we are all experiencing due to COVID-19 our Board of Directors and staff have decided to cancel all summer camps that we had planned. If you have already registered for one of our summer camp programs, an email regarding our re-imagine Summer 2020 guided nature activities option is forthcoming. Please email with any questions.

Whispering Pines - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
July 13-17, 2020. 9:30 to noon. Ages 3 to 4 (must be potty trained)

Join us for a week of outdoor play and exploration in the White Pine Forest and Nature Play area. We will visit the garden to pick some berries or vegetables, work on building fairy houses, dig in the fossil pit to see what treasures we can find and play fun games in the comfort of the shady forest.

Little Explorers - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
August 17-21, 2020. 9:30 to noon. Ages 3 to 4 (must be potty trained)

Our Little Explorer program is a seasonal, year long program that reinforces Nature Play and Discovery. Join us to find bugs in the meadow, seeds in the garden, worms in the outdoor classroom and frogs at the pond. We will take hikes, read nature stories, bring out your inner artist and participate in some nature play with friends. Help us start them young! Once an Explorer - Always and Explorer!

Ages 5 to 7
Nature Art - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
June 22-26, 2020. 9:00 to noon. Ages 5 to 7

Join us for week of connecting with nature through artfully minded exploration to inspire creativity! The beauty of our natural world provides us with a colorful palette, rich textures & shapes. We will have scavenger hunts to collect natural objects for art projects, including recreating amazing features found only in the natural world! Come create with us!

Powerful Pollinators - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
June 29 to July 3, 2020. 9:00 to noon. Ages 5 to 7

We have pollinators to thank for more than a third of the foods and drinks we enjoy daily. Come and learn about the amazing diversity of pollinators. From bees to bats we will have fun exploring how pollination happens and why it is so important. We will spend lots of time in the meadow watching pollination occuring first hand. We will also learn easy ways that everyone can help out these extremely important creatures.

Meadow Magic - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
June 29 to July 3, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 5 to 7

When we hike the meadow at FHNC we begin to realize the importance of every plant and weed. Milkweed is the food for butterflies, thistle is the food for birds, and goldenrod produces food for the bees. Lets learn about the meadow habitat while enjoying hikes, reading stories and creating art projects using natural materials.

Habitats - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
August 10 - 14, 2020. 9:00 to noon. Ages 5 to 7

Lets travel the globe as we learn about habitats. What is a habitat? We'll study the animals and people that reside in the rainforest, the polar world, the ocean, the desert and our own backyard. We will fill our "passport" while enjoying books, creating art, and hiking the trails at FHNC.

Silly Science - Members: $230. Non-Members: $260
July 6 - 10, 2020. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 5 to 10

Join us for a week of amazing and silly science. We will explore microscopic worlds, experiment with color and create crazy chemical concoctions. Every day we will create contraptions to complete our Build It Challenge and explore the grounds of FHNC to observe the science happening all around us.

Jr. Nature Guide - Members: $230. Non-Members: $260
July 27 - 31, 2020. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 5 to 10

We will learn about the amazing plants and animals that call Pennsylvania home and meet a few of FHNC's Nature Guide volunteers! We will spend time on hikes, doing crafts, playing games and visiting with special guests.

Amazing Animals - Members: $230. Non-Members: $260
August 3 - 7, 2020. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 5 to 10

Animals are all around us! Some are big, some are small, some are round, some are long, some have spikes and some have fur. Join us for a week of camp that is all about amazing animals, their adaptations, habitats and survival techniques. We will share some of our most memorable & favorite animal trivia to keep the students coming back for more.

Ages 6 to 9
Water Wonders - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
July 20-24, 2020. 9:00 to noon. Ages 6 to 9

Water, water everywhere! Join us as we explore the 71% of the Earth's surface that is made up of water! We will learn about the animals and plants that call water home and the water cycle. We will investigate Earth's water systems through hikes, fun games and creative crafts. From oceans & lakes, to rivers & streams, and to even our very own puddles here at Fern Hollow - there's so much to discover!

Animal Patterns - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
August 10-14, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 6 to 9

Discover the beauty and function of animal coverings through tactile experience, observation and lessons concerning animal habitat. Explore the reasons fur, feathers, scales and exoskeleton are important for adaptation to environments. Campers will have access to real specimens then create artwork portraying unique animal patterns.

Green Thumb Club - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
Wednesdays. June 17 - August 12, 2020.  3:30 to 5:30 pm. Ages 6 to 9

Learn about food science, botany and of course dirt! We will work weekly to help plant, weed, water and harvest the vegetable garden and berry patches at Fern Hollow with some fun science added in to help us understand more about how a garden works. We will also learn some easy recipes for the food we will be harvesting. 

Ages 8 to 11
Nature Journaling - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
June 22-26, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 8 to 11

Children will design a unique book cover and bind a journal to use in the field. Scientific documentation,identification of species and drawing specimens will be taught while adding discoveries to personal nature journals on hikes through Fern Hollow.

Eco-Warriors - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
July 13-17, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 8 to 11

Help Fern Hollow save the world! At our half day camp, kids will learn the importance of protecting and preserving our earth. Through educational games, activities, and videos, kids will experience hands on projects that will teach them about all things sustainability and learn ways that they can help ensure a clean, green future.

Wilderness Survival - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
July 20-24, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 8 to 11

Join us for a week of learning how to survive in the wilderness. We will learn how to find safe water to drink, where and how to build a variety of shelters, and of course how to make a fire.

Chief Catfish - Members: $140. Non-Members: $170
August 17-21, 2020. 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Ages 8 to 11
Students will learn about Chief Catfish and the other Native Americans that called
Sewickley PA home. This class centers on history, art/artifacts, botany, engineering and a little bit of chemistry. We will make traditional shelters, weavings and other objects used by Native Americans and settlers in the region and create dyes and paints from native plants. (Homeschoolers - this will meet some of the criteria for fall lessons!)
