For over 25 years, we’ve been a community asset in Sewickley, making this a great place to Learn, Explore and Discover. With the financial support of families like yours, Fern Hollow has grown into a destination for nature lovers, local schools, and area families.
This community’s demand for outdoor programming opportunities has increased for all age groups. Your donation to our Annual Fund will be used to ensure that our programs are relevant, timely and help local schools meet curricular standards.
In addition, our classroom building is in need of repairs and TLC. With your support, we’ll be able to make necessary improvements and safety updates.

Volunteer with Us!
We are always in need of volunteers! Adult and teen volunteers are needed to assist educators and to help with programs and events geared toward adults, families and youth. We also need helpers for the garden, grounds, and building. There is something for everyone and every schedule.
The following clearances are required for all Fern Hollow Volunteers:

CApital campaign
We are renovating our nature center! We are thrilled to announce the launch of our capital campaign to renovate Fern Hollow Nature Center’s building and add a brand-new 1,200-square-foot addition!
This project will enhance our educational programs, improve visitor experiences, and provide a welcoming space for the community to connect with nature for years to come.
Since 1997 Fern Hollow has been inspiring people of all ages to appreciate the environment through educational programs and opportunities to discover the natural resources of the Sewickley Valley parks. Exponential growth in enrollment from local schools, families, and individuals demonstrates a strong demand for the services of our nature center.

Photographers and Photoshoots
Fern Hollow Nature Center is a non-profit organization open to the public year round from dawn to dusk. While photoshoots on the grounds of Fern Hollow do not need to be scheduled, we ask that all commercial photographers check our calendar when planning their sessions.
Photoshoots are not permitted during private rentals and are not recommended while programs or events are occurring. Click here to see our calendar!
There is no charge to use Fern Hollow Nature Center for a photoshoot, however, we do accept donations to help maintain the grounds. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
