Fern Hollow Nature Center is a charming space located in the heart of Sewickley Heights. Originally part of the  G. Whitney Snyder estate, the property was donated to Sewickley Heights Borough which in turn created Fern Hollow Nature Center.  Fern Hollow has committed to preserve the landscape and remains an invaluable educational and environmental resource in the community.

Our facility is rented as a blank slate, giving you the freedom to choose your own personal touches that make your wedding unique to you.  The facility offers flexibility, privacy and a beautiful backdrop. 

Fern Hollow also offers a beautiful, natural setting for private events of 50+ guests—perfect for unforgettable celebrations and special gatherings.

Private Events

We welcome both adult and children’s private events for up to 50 guests. See below for event options and pricing details.

For up to 25 guests = $150
For 26 – 50 guests = $350

Add $200 to include 90 minutes with an Instructor, for groups of 10 children or 15 adults.

Themes for 90 minutes w/ instructor include:
– Archery
– Bugs
– Dinosaurs
– Fairies
– Fishing
– Herpetology (Reptiles and amphibians)
– Night Owls
– Mushroom ID
or ask if your preferred nature theme is possible!

All rentals include
– Fifty people max.
– Five hours usage of the venue
– Fully equipped Kitchen
– Fifty folding chairs
– Eight, six foot tables
– Three picnic tables
– Use of the building, lawn and grounds
– Two handicapped accessible restrooms
– Free, private parking on premises

Not included in the rental are decorations, food and drinks, set-up, tear-down or cleanup.

Nonprofit Gatherings and Scout Events

Fern Hollow welcomes nonprofit groups and scout troops for meetings, workshops, and special events of up to 50 participants. See our rental options and pricing below.

Non-Profit Meeting:
Rental fee: $35
50 guest maximum

Non-Profit Social Gathering:
Rental fee: $150
50 guest maximum

Scout Rental fee: $35
50 people maximum

Scout Camp-Out Rental fee: $75
50 people max.
Use of building and grounds from 5pm-9am
Up to 4 tents
$25 for each additional tent

Fern Hollow Nature Center is a non-profit organization open to the public year round from dawn to dusk.

While photoshoots on the grounds of Fern Hollow do not need to be scheduled, we ask that all commercial photographers check our calendar when planning their sessions.

Photoshoots are not permitted during private rentals and while programs or events are occurring.

There is no charge to use Fern Hollow Nature Center for a photoshoot, however, we do accept donations to help maintain the grounds.
