On Friday, May 15, 2020 Allegheny County will move into the yellow phase of Pennsylvania's Planned Reopening. However, this will not substantially affect the current situation at Fern Hollow Nature Center. Our grounds will continue to remain open to the public from dawn to dusk. Our Board of Directors, under expert counsel, after lengthy discussions and careful consideration with our educators and staff, has decided that our building will remain closed, and that all indoor rentals, events and camps are cancelled through June 30, 2020. Any changes will be updated here and through our social media accounts. Please email with any questions.

Since 1997, Fern Hollow Nature Center has been a valuable educational and environmental resource in the community. With over 8,000 visitors each year, the Center provides the community with unique learning opportunities and a wonderful facility for events.

Programs are held on the grounds, in the area parks and often in the region's vast creek system. Learn more about our school programs here.    FHNC is a place where individuals, groups and families can come to enjoy the outdoors. We are proud to be the gateway to the area park system.  Click here to Explore the Grounds!    We provide educational opportunities aimed at helping adults and children understand and appreciate our environment.
