COVID-19 UPDATE 11/19/20:
Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in our area and in accordance with the Allegheny County Health Department’s
new advisory to stay home other than work, school or essential activities, we have decided to cancel all nature center programs
for the next 30 days or until the advisory is lifted. Even though our programs are primarily outside and we have been following rigorous safety precautions, we believe it is in the best interest of our families and our community to keep each other safe by staying apart. Participants will be notified directly, but can email our Education Director, Susie Moffett, with any questions or clarifications.
We will also be closing our building to the public for the winter other than scheduled classes, activities or rentals until March 2021.
Our grounds remain open for use by the public and we encourage you to explore our trails
and outdoor classroom throughout the winter months.
If you have questions for the nature center staff please call 412-741-6136
or email and someone will get back to you shortly.

Since 1997, Fern Hollow Nature Center has been a valuable educational and environmental resource in the community. With over 8,000 visitors each year, the Center provides the community with unique learning opportunities and a wonderful facility for events.

Programs are held on the grounds, in the area parks and often in the region's vast creek system. Learn more about our school programs here.    FHNC is a place where individuals, groups and families can come to enjoy the outdoors. We are proud to be the gateway to the area park system.  Click here to Explore the Grounds!    We provide educational opportunities aimed at helping adults and children understand and appreciate our environment.
