WHY GIVE?

TO MEET THE ON DEMAND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Since 1997 Fern Hollow has been inspiring people of all ages to appreciate the environment through educational programs and opportunities to discover the natural resources of the Sewickley Valley parks.  Exponential growth in enrollment from local schools, families, and individuals demonstrates a strong demand for the services of our nature center.

TO IMPROVE OUR FACILITY’S QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY

A quality learning environment is vital for quality instruction.  With improved classroom spaces, the educators will be able to expand both the curricular offerings and the spectrum of learners they’re able to serve.  Modernization of the existing building will improve energy efficiency and extend the functionality of the facility well into the future.

We gratefully accept checks made payable to FHNC, PO Box 8 Sewickley, PA 15143.

PROJECT GOALS

Enhanced Educational Opportunities
Adding a second classroom and improving the layout, technology, and acoustics will increase both the capacity and diversity of educational offerings to a variety of ages and audiences.  Both classrooms will feature easy, safe access to the outdoors.

Accessibility Improvements
Visitors with mobility issues will have an easier time navigating our facilities and bathrooms.

Clear Wayfinding
A reconfigured entrance will improve traffic flow and offer a welcoming lobby with educational exhibits, while retaining privacy for teaching and administrative spaces.

Interior Improvements
Flexible and efficient administrative facilities optimize space for staff, storage, and community gatherings.

Sustainability
Energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly practices will promote environmental sustainability while protecting the natural resources of the surrounding property.

Campaign LAUNCH

Fern Hollow is launching a campaign to fund this transformative project.
Every contribution, big or small, will help to create a sustainable facility that benefits our entire community.

We are pleased to announce that a core group of local donors have already pledged to support this campaign.
We are also in the process of submitting several grant applications to local foundations to aid in our fundraising efforts.

Next, we will be looking to our Fern Hollow family to get us to the finish line.
