Geocache Hunters
Whether your child is a seasoned “cacher” or is looking to just get started, we invite them to join one of Fern Hollow’s educators as we explore what the “treasure hunt” style game of geocaching is all about! While hunting for some of the many caches located in Sewickley Heights Borough Park, participants will learn about global positioning system (GPS) coordinates, how to respect and be good stewards of the environment while geocaching, and other invaluable skills in areas such as geography, history, math and land navigation.
This is a drop-off program for children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old. Please be sure to wear appropriate footwear, such as sturdy shoes or hiking boots, and a water bottle is highly recommended. Also, while we will have a limited number of GPS units available for participants to borrow, if anyone has their own, or another device that is capable of downloading the official geocaching application (smart phone, iPod Touch, etc.) they are encouraged to bring it.
Spaces are limited. Registration is required.
