Job Overview:
We are seeking an inspiring, passionate, and well-rounded individual to serve as our Naturalist. This person will be responsible for engaging the public through education, programming, and land management on our 33-acre property, as well as the 1,000-acre park in Sewickley Heights Borough.
Responsibilities:
- Land Stewardship and Property Management:
- Develop and implement sustainable land management and ecological restoration plans.
- Conduct routine property inspections and manage improvements.
- Supervise staff and or volunteers related to property maintenance.
- Provide community guidance on native planting, pest management, habitat health, and water quality.
- Environmental Education:
- Oversee educational programming, curriculum, and materials development.
- Develop and lead educational programs for local schools and community members.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster a welcoming and educational environment for visitors.
- Foster relationships and partnerships with local community groups, schools, environmental organizations, and government agencies to promote collaboration and mutual benefit.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in land management and environmental education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical tasks.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and lead small teams.
- Basic computer proficiency.
