The six legged kingdom is small but mighty, and very important to our ecosystems. Come kick off the new school year by learning about some of the creatures we call “bugs”.

Nighttime can seem scary as a human, but many animals thrive in the dark. Join us to learn about animals that come out when the sun goes down.

Join Fern Hollow’s Educators to celebrate the Fall Harvest with a fun night of nature and games!
Learn all about animals of the night while enjoying fall crafts and a night hike.

We will celebrate the Fall Harvest with s’mores on the bonfire, a costume contest, and pumpkin carving!

Dressing up is encouraged but not required.

All Fern Hollow’s Homeschoolers signed up for the 10 sessions, and their families are invited, at no extra fee.
An email with an RSVP invitation will be sent out prior to the event.
Or you may select to sign up as a family, on the single sessions list, at a special, discounted, Homeschooler fee.

This month, we will learn about the animals that take napping to the extreme. Slowed heart rate, lowered body temperature, and cessation of eating are all a part of hibernation, and we will explore the reasons behind this winter survival strategy.

Some birds fly south for the winter, but many birds stay put. Come and explore the different feathered friends that spend the winter with us here at Fern Hollow.

Some rocks are colorful and some are dull. Some rocks have crystals and fossils inside of them, and some are so soft you can scratch them with your fingernail! Join us at Fern Hollow to explore the rocks of the world.

From pancakes and waffles to donuts and ice cream, maple syrup is a common staple on American breakfast tables. Have you ever wondered where it came from? Join us to learn all about maple syrup and help us tap our maple trees!

Much of our food that we eat  requires pollinators to grow, but who are these pollinators? Join us to learn about the tiny creatures who make a big impact in our environment.

We plant a little seed in the ground and it grows into a big, beautiful plant. But how does that happen? Join us to learn about the life cycle of plants and take some potted seeds home to grow!

Join us for a day of celebrating the end of the school year with a day of creek exploration at Walker Park, Little Sewickley Creek Rd Sewickley, PA 15143
