We are pleased to offer a variety of nature-themed Summer Camps for children ages 3 to 11 that will take place at Ohio Township Nature Center, Sewickley Heights Borough Park, and Walker Park due to renovations at Fern Hollow.

Requests for refunds on Summer Camps will be accepted up to fourteen (14) days before camp begins. All accepted refunds will be the full amount, minus a $50 registration fee and processing fees issued via PayPal.
LITTLE EXPLORERS ages 3-6
Little Explorers is available every week of the summer camp season! Join us for a week of fun and discovery! Each day, we will explore a different nature-themed topic (such as plants, animals, and insects) through games, crafts, and stories. Campers will also enjoy daily hikes, free exploration, and playtime in the field and playground.
LITTLE SPROUTS grades K-2
Get up and grow with this weeklong camp focused on gardening! We’ll take a look at a plant’s life cycle and what they need to thrive. We will also learn about the importance and fun of learning the lifelong skill of growing our own food.
PLANTS, ANIMALS, N’AT grades K-2
Sewickley Heights Borough Park is the perfect place to embark on your journey as a junior N’at(uralist) and refine your skills with Ms Cam. Campers will discover the beauty of Pennsylvania’s plants, animals, and rocks while enjoying daily hikes and the excitement of outdoor exploration. Seize this opportunity to gain invaluable field experience and engage in enriching hands-on lessons.
PENNSYLVANIA ADVENTURES grades K-2
The natural world is full of amazing things, and we don’t need to travel far to find them! Through fun hikes, hands-on nature games, creative crafts, and simple science activities, campers will learn more about some of the awesome plant, animal, and other native species that call the Keystone State home.
ART IN NATURE grades K-2
Our summer camp combines art and nature, inspiring campers to explore and create using natural materials. With experienced instructors, campers will learn to appreciate the natural world while fostering creativity and imagination through a variety of mediums. Our program includes educational activities on conservation and sustainability, helping campers develop a sense of responsibility for the planet. BUGGIN’ OUT grades K-2
It’s time to get down to earth- literally! In this camp we will be exploring the world of insects and examining all sorts of critters and creepy crawlies that we call bugs. We will learn about what it takes to be considered an insect, how insects find food, and how they avoid being food for other animals. We will spend time each day looking for all sorts of insects, comparing them to each other, and learning about their unique body parts and life cycles. PREDATOR vs PREY grades K-2
Come learn all about each and every creature on the food web! In this camp we will talk about the specific adaptations that help different animals find food and avoid becoming food themselves. We will explore the various habitats of our local park while searching for all sorts of creatures- big, small, fast, slow, scaly, and furry. See if you have what it takes to eat instead of being eaten!
FEATHERED FRIENDS grades K-2
How much better is a hawk’s vision than ours? How fast does a hummingbird fly? Why doesn’t a woodpecker get a headache? We’ll learn all about our feathered friends and see if our “owl eyes” can find any as we explore the trails and habitats around birding hotspot, Sewickley Heights Borough Park.
WILDERNESS SURVIVAL grades 3-5
Have you ever wondered how people survived in the wilderness without electricity and modern supplies? Do you want to build some skills that you can take with you on camping trips? Join Mr Sam as we learn how to survive and thrive in the great outdoors. In this camp, we will learn things like how to build a fire, how to navigate without a phone, how and where to build shelter, and how to find safe sources of food and water. If you want to always be the most prepared friend while out in nature- this is the camp for you!
WATERSHED WARRIORS grades K-2
Explore the fascinating world of plants and animals of the watershed ecosystem! Watershed Warriors has the perfect balance of outdoor exploration, creative activities, and scientific investigation. Learn all about the animals that live in the creek and how people contribute to healthy ecosystems while we hike, explore, and discover the beauty and complexity of nature! With plenty of opportunities for fun, learning, and making new friends, Watershed Warriors is the ultimate summer camp experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. HOOKED ON FISHING grades 3-5
Are you interested in becoming an angler or improving your fishing skills? Join the educators and interns at Fern Hollow for a week of learning about Pennsylvania’s freshwater fish, macroinvertebrates, fishing techniques, lure-making, and much more. Youth anglers are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles, but we will also have some available to borrow. Activities will occur at Walker Park and King’s Lake.
